Applications fields of ZDDQ STATCOM
Long-distance Power Transmission
It has been widely proved that STATCOM can greatly improve the transmission and distribution performance of electric system. STATCOM can be installed at various locations along the network to achieve the effect of stabilizing voltage, reducing transmission loss, improving transmission capability, increasing transient stabilization limit and damping under small inferences, strengthening voltage control and attenuating power oscillation. In addition, STATCOM also provides solid technical guarantee for ongoing parallel operation in China.
City Secondary Substation
The conventional fixed capacitor banks applied in regional grid can only offer capacitive power but can’t adjust compensation in accordance with load variation. Though it can achieves higher PF, it may lead to over compensation and enhancing of bus voltage and then damage electric equipments. At the same time, the increase of harmonics affects the safety of capacitor banks. STATCOM can quickly and precisely compensate both capacitive and inductive power, stabilize line voltage, increase power factor, at the same time avoid over compensation. STATCOM can improve the safety of existing capacitor banks so as to save investment.
Wind Farm and Solar Plant
Power generation and grid integration of wind farm and solar plant will have to face the problems of low PF, voltage deviation, fluctuation and flicker. The voltage fluctuation of system, meanwhile, affects the normal operation of wind turbines. STATCOM not only solves these problems but also efficiently reduce the negative effect of system voltage fluctuation upon turbines. In combined applications with shunt reactors and capacitors, STATCOM system application can be most cost-effective. The movable and expandable features of STATCOM ensure its ability to expand with the development of wind farm.
Rolling Mill
Rolling mill and other industrial unsymmetrical load lead to voltage drop and fluctuation and thus the following negative effect:
1.Reduce production efficiency or cause malfunction of some electric equipments.
2.Low power factor.
3.Harmful high order harmonics, say, 5, 7, 11, 13 order and side frequency, causing serious voltage distortion.
STATCOM can efficiently solve these problems and ensure stable bus voltage, high PF around 1 and low harmonics
Arc Furnace
As a nonlinear and ruleless load, arc furnace will cause serious 3-phase unbalance and generate negative sequence current. It will arise many high order harmonics, including even-order2, 4 and odd-order 3, 5, 7 harmonics, and make the voltage distortion and more complicated. Besides, arc furnace will cause serious voltage flicker and low power factor. The only way to solve this problem for clients is to install fast response dynamic var compensator. STATCOM system responses less than 5 ms, which offers arc furnace with fast var support, and significantly reduces voltage flicker, stabilizes line voltage, increases metallurgy power output and productivity. STATCOM has the function of phase compensation and can eliminate the 3- phase unbalance caused by arc furnace. The assistant filter is able to remove harmful high order harmonics and offer capacitive var to increase power factor.
